Mr. McAuley graduated from McMaster University in 1982 and is a Chartered Accountant, a specialist designated by the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants in Investigative and Forensic Accounting and a Chartered Business Valuator.
For the past 26 years, Mr. McAuley has practiced from KPMG’s Hamilton, Toronto and London England offices. Since 1989, Mr. McAuley has practiced in KPMG’s forensic and investigative accounting practice. As a senior partner in KPMG Forensic, he has led some of Canada’s largest and most complex investigative and litigation support assignments. This includes litigation matters with amounts claimed exceeding $1 billion and significant investigations such as the enquiry into a $700 million collapsed hedge fund. He has testified in Court as an expert accountant on numerous occasions. Mr. McAuley’s engagements have involved investigations around the globe.
Mr. McAuley has written and spoken extensively on topics related to forensic accounting and investigations. In 2005, Mr. McAuley was named as one of Canada’s leading 20 expert witnesses by Lexpert. In 2007, he was included by Lexpert in a list of 24 Canadian cross-border accounting expert witnesses.
